This is a short post that covers two important but related topics… and some videos to watch.
International Volunteer Day
Yes, it’s today and although previously acknowledged, here’s another shout-out to a memorable group of individuals who, in my view, surpassed all expectations and comprised the backbone of our recent AFFIRM Women Conference themed: Our Welfare Matters.
From the early planning stages to the final applause, these individuals selflessly donated their time, energy, and expertise to ensure that every detail was meticulously executed, thereby enriching the Conference experience for all our speakers and delegates.
Here are some of them, strutting their stuff…
This video ALWAYS brings a smile to my face – what a truly fantastic day it was!!!
So, I celebrate each of you: Esther, Fatimoh, Wendy, Priscilla, Mercy, Elizabeth, Taiwo, Phebean, Grace, Obafunke, Reina, Precious-gift, Olamide, Deborah, Inumidun, Tolulope, Victoria, Precious T., Iyanuoluwa, Ruth, Goodness, and of course, Tunji. I really can’t thank you enough and my door remains open to you all.
Happy International Volunteer Day!
I can’t stress enough the huge benefits of volunteering, not only to organisations, programmes and events, but also for anyone who needs to develop their skills and learning. It provides valuable work experience (add it to your CV of course!), improves confidence, enables growth, enhances social, physical and mental well-being, allows one to ‘give back’ and make incredible impact on other people’s lives. The opportunities are all around you – look for them and watch how you progress.
Welcome to UWE Students
I have been asked to share some resources with the “Introduction to Psychology” students at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol, UK. So, if this is you, WELCOME! I hope to interact with you in person at the seminar on Individual Differences in Mental Health and Well-being. Here are a couple of videos on mental health and stress challenges experienced by some Nigerian university students:
